Scholarships for 2024-25
The Carla Savage-Wells Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce that it will award at least TWO scholarships for the 2024-25 school year.
Details
Each award may be used by a student who will enroll in an accredited college or trade school in the Fall of 2025.
The ideal recipients of this year’s scholarship will embody, in word and in deed, the spirit and civic-mindedness of esteemed and beloved educator, Carla Savage-Wells.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be a senior at Nandua High School or any high school in Accomack County, Northampton County; or otherwise eligible home-school student;
Must enroll in an accredited college or trade school in the Fall of 2025;
Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5;
Must have a demonstrated commitment to community service; and
Must submit a 500-word essay on one of the following topics:
What have you done to contribute to the improvement of your community? How do you intend to have a lasting impact on the betterment of your community?
What act of community service would you perform to improve your community? How would you accomplish this goal?
If you could start your own charity to improve your community, what would your mission be? Why is the charity you chose particularly relevant to your community?
Required Materials
Completed application;
Current high school transcript;
Resume;
One letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or community leader;
500-word essay; and
Proof of enrollment in an accredited college or trade school upon request (if selected for award)
Deadline
Completed application and required forms must be submitted by March 31, 2025.

Selection of Scholarship Recipient
The Executive Board of the Carla Savage-Wells Scholarship Foundation, Inc. will select finalists for each scholarship from the eligible applicants. To honor Mrs. Savage-Wells’ commitment to bettering students as public speakers, the finalists will be asked to prepare a brief speech to present to the Executive Board via Zoom. Finalists will be notified of the topic and date for their presentation in early April 2025.
